Upcoming Penokee Events

Joel and I will have a table at this event with Penokee Calendars and Discovering the Penokees books for sale. There will be other great authors and more at the event. We hope you can stop by. The Northern Great Lakes Visitor Center is located on County Highway G just west of Ashland (turn right onto G off Hwy 2 after the roundabout).
Dec. 31: New Years Eve Gathering-- early evening
At the HELP camp (Harvest Education Learning Project) on Moore Park Rd. between Mellen and Upson, WI (just east of Ashland/Iron County line). We are working on contact info. for those who want more information, but in the meantime please email us if you'd like more info., better directions, etc.
Jan. 18, 2015: 1 Year Anniversary Snow Shoe into the Penokees
Take off will be around 1pm if weather provides. Coffee and some simple soup and sandwiches on the menu from the HELP Site. Bring snowshoes, warm clothes, water, etc.
Other General upcoming work and news:  Per Paul DeMain:

"Also, we want to spend some time in the near future developing our winter paths thru the snow at the HELP site into and around the maple and other trees we will be tapping in the spring and/or marking them and doing inventory in hopes we can double the number of taps around HELP and those Treaty Trees across from the White Cap Mountain Resort in Iron County. With "Penokee Gold" registered as a Maple Syrup Producers Brand, we intend to look at growing our presence this next spring, and in the future - taking off."
"We also want to begin moving in multiple alternative directions for creating additional small but vibrant local support groups, alternative jobs, economic stimulus, and develop a strong voting block in Iron County."
We'll keep you updated as some of these projects or other events develop. Thanks again for your support.
If you haven't yet, and would like to, check out our MEMBER ONLY PENOKEE CALENDAR SALE- 45% off through tonight (Dec. 1 midnight). As always, a portion of profits will go to the Bad River Legal Defense Fund to help protect the Penokees and Bad River Watershed for future generations.
