Wash Post labels Scott Walker a dark money 'supplicant'

I'd predicted a few days ago that national media like The Washington Post and The New York Times would in this busy campaign season get around to covering The Guardian's expose of Scott Walker and frame it as a case study in special interest, dark money management.

We in Wisconsin have been on to Walker's service to donors for years, but it sure was nice to see the Walker we know get his well-earned ride in The Post today:

“Take Koch’s [sic] money,” Kate Doner, Walker’s fundraising consultant, urged him in September 2011. “Get on a plane to Vegas and sit down with Sheldon Adelson. Ask for $1m now. Corporations. Go heavy after them to give . . . Create a list of legislation that passed and benefits whom.”
And isn't it delicious that Scott Walker just wondered about "what kind of system do we live in?"

That line from Walker's fundraising adviser - - "create a list of legislation that passed and benefits whom” - - pretty much answers the question, as it's about as blatant endorsement of pay-for-play that you will ever read.

I moved to Wisconsin 30 years ago. I choose if for a number of reasons. A clean and open government was on the list. I have become angry and saddened by what this administration has become and how the good folks can't stop him.

Is it a government taking without just compensation when democracy is bought with out of state money?

Is it a civil rights violation when out of state non-citizen corporations and wealthy people have greater access to our state government than the voting, taxpaying citizen of Wisconsin?

Good find on the quote about how Walker sold "return on investment" as a reason to donate to him...ERRRR....Club for Growth.

That is the definition of quid pro quo corruption, in addition to the tax fraud, the money-laundering, and the circumvention of limits on donations to candidates.
