Many large WI layoffs go under the radar

Take a look at this webpage posted by Walker's Department of Workforce Development and you will see at least 54 layoffs of at least 25 workers in 2017 disclosed by Wisconsin employers - - and many of the dislocations involved workers by the hundreds.

That's more than one significant loss of employment event in Wisconsin every week.

And the 670-employee layoff by JCPenney at a Wauwatosa distribution center announced today was the 10th this year involving at least 25 workers, taccording to the state agency's data.

The data also include many smaller layoffs, but all involve real people in our state.
